From the Board of Directors
2021 FPBR Baseball SeasonUpdatedTuesday January 19, 2021 byMike Chambers.
Good morning Fox Point Friends & Families,
We are well into 2021 and we at Fox Point wanted to reach out and update you on our plans for the 2021 FPBR Spring Baseball Season.
After much discussion with the Board of Directors, we have decided that our current situation with Covid still being wide spread, and total population vaccination still months away, that we are unfortunately going to suspend the 2021 FPBR Spring Baseball Season.
This decision was made after serious thoughts and discussions were had covering everything from the delaying of registrations, school mailings and fund raising. But above all that, safety first and foremost, for our children and volunteers, was above everything else. All the precautions and sanitation efforts that Fox Point could take still would not prevent the possibility of spreading the Covid virus if 100% of the public didn't follow all the health guidelines put forth by our State and Federal Government. It is a park environment we play in, so sanitation would need to take place prior to and after each practice and game. Not to mention during all practices and games. And to expose our children and volunteers to the possibility of contracting Covid outweighs playing a sport. The contraction percentage for the public is as high now as it has ever been. I've had it and it wasn't a pleasant experience. And it spread throughout my household
Never did Fox Point expect to have to suspend 2 seasons of baseball for any reason whatsoever. It does not bode well for the future of our league. Will take a lot of work to get back to our proud standards once baseball activities resume. So with that being said, as President, I am willing to step aside if there is anyone in our league, or you know anyone, that would like to lead Fox Point this year so a 2021 Baseball Season is possible. I ask that you please consider everything that will go into this. Time is critical, so I must hear from those wishing to do this as soon as possible. A lot of background procedures will need to be done before the start of a season, so reach out to me if you are interested or have any questions.
Again, we thank everyone for their years of support at Fox Point and hope that you will continue to support us in the future.
Mike Chambers - President FPBR
